I came across this compilation album themed after the music of John Carpenter, made iconic from his films like The Thing, and Escape From New York. Listening to this music, I was shocked by how powerfully transported and nostalgically blissful I became. It brought me back to a time in my life where I was playing Genesis games, watching movies like Aliens and Predator, skateboarding, going to punk/hardcore shows, going to the pizzeria for slices and to play street fighter. If I was still as passionate about music as I once was, I would track down the bands from the compilation and suss them out individually. But for now, I’m content to listen to this mix.

This is the sort of band I would have been thrilled about when I was younger. There is still enough residual interest in this sort of thing to get a few songs stuck in my head.
