Origins:
Bira, Jason and I were sitting in our damp swim trunks, when I eyed Bira’s keyboard. I began some chlorine induced riffing, until I had a stream of noisy sketches going.
Bira leaned over his computer and improvised a beat over top. Then went into the kitchen to scribble on a piece of paper. He returned explaining that he had written lyrics that Jason was to sing, no rehearsals allowed. Jason nervously positioned himself in front of a speaker and mic and we recording our first song: “I Eat Your”.
We set about recording another. We switched roles at writing lyrics, playing keys, creating the beat. An hour later we had written and recorded six songs. We then proceeded to change out of our swim shorts and into white pants and sunglasses for a photo shoot.
It then became time to come up with a name. I declared “We must call ourselves Hiroshima 3!” An argument ensued. The argument ended as the only other worthwhile name was Jason’s idea to call us “Ten Piece Nugget”.
Eventually we couldn’t delay things any longer, the internet awaited our debut, and in a moments sting of inspiration we decided. So it became. And so it is, forever and always….Nipper.
