I was hanging out with an old friend from high school I hadn’t seen in years, when she remembered she had a photo of me that I had never seen. At the time she had me pose with a couple of my paintings, for a photography class she was taking at the end of high school, and I had moved away to college before she had a chance to develop it.

I doubled over with laughter when she showed me the slide. Who was this kid with the Lyle Lovett inspired hair, popped collar, and affected brooding scowl, that advertised to the world he took himself far too seriously? That kid was me! God bless the little whipper snapper.
